Job Summary

The Wound Care Technician supports the delivery of wound care services under the direct supervision of a physician. This role assists with the care of patients with chronic wounds, prepares exam rooms and equipment, manages wound care supplies, and supports clinical documentation and workflow. The Wound Care Technician contributes to quality and safety initiatives while ensuring a clean, organized, and patient-centered care environment.

Essential Functions
  • Assists physicians with the evaluation and treatment of patients with pressure ulcers, arterial and venous wounds, diabetic wounds, surgical wounds, and other chronic wounds.
  • Prepares rooms, equipment, and supplies prior to procedures and ensures appropriate disinfection and restocking after each use.
  • Provides direct patient care under supervision, including basic wound therapy tasks, patient positioning, and comfort measures.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with clinical and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures wound care supplies and equipment are available, organized, and maintained in good working condition.
  • Supports patient scheduling, registration, and customer service activities as needed in the Wound Healing Center.
  • Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and follows infection control and safety protocols at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in a wound care, outpatient, or clinical support setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of wound care principles, supplies, and treatment protocols.
  • Ability to perform patient care tasks and support clinical workflows under supervision.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail in a clinical setting.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and basic office software.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices and regulatory safety standards.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Licenses and Certifications
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
