Job Summary

The Vice President, Data Governance and Strategy is an executive leader responsible for establishing and advancing Community Health Systems' enterprise data governance strategy to ensure institutional data assets are accurate, secure, compliant, and positioned to support high-quality patient care, operational performance, regulatory reporting, and AI-enabled healthcare capabilities. This role leads the enterprise data governance structure and stewardship model and oversees the policies, standards, and processes necessary to ensure the quality, integrity, security, and appropriate use of institutional data. The Vice President drives clear data ownership and accountability, establishes enterprise standards for data quality and authorized use, and implements controls that enable transparency and trust, including metadata management, lineage, and attestation. This role has immediate focus on successful integration and optimized utilization of the Company's Oracle Suite of products, including ERP and related cloud platforms. The Vice President champions a data-driven culture and ensures enterprise systems and partner data domains are governed to produce authoritative, verifiable, and responsible data products that support timely decision-making today while laying the foundation for accelerated AI capabilities in the future.

Essential Functions
  • Defines, communicates, and executes the enterprise data governance strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned with system objectives, clinical priorities, and business goals.
  • Establishes and leads the enterprise data governance framework, including governance councils, stewardship models, policies, standards, metrics, and accountability structures.
  • Identifies and formalizes authoritative data domains and cross-domain data products to support clinical care, financial integrity, operational reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establishes and enforces enterprise standards for data quality, metadata, lineage, attestation, and lifecycle management to ensure transparency and trust in institutional data.
  • Implements responsible data use guardrails, including privacy, security, consent, authorization, and ethical AI practices, to enable innovation while managing risk.
  • Leads executive-level governance and accountability steering committees to prioritize enterprise data initiatives and oversee maturity progression.
  • Ensures data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across all domains by implementing monitoring, triage, and remediation processes tied to clear ownership and stewardship.
  • Directs enterprise lifecycle governance across data creation, validation, enrichment, integration, consumption, retention, and disposition.
  • Leads governance oversight for system migration and integration efforts, including mapping standards, reconciliation controls, defect remediation, and traceable cutover readiness.
  • Guides the enterprise data strategy related to the Oracle Suite, including ERP, cloud (OCI and SaaS), and healthcare platforms, ensuring migration, integration, and ongoing data management support system optimization.
  • Establishes policies and controls for data input, access, reporting, and utilization within Oracle environments to maximize investment value and ensure accurate financial and operational reporting.
  • Leads Master Data Management (MDM) and reference data governance for key domains, including patient, provider, vendor, and financial data.
  • Reports regularly to executive leadership on governance effectiveness, data quality performance, risk exposure, and strategic progress.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • More than 10 years of progressive experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Intelligence, or Information Technology required
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise data governance programs within complex, multi-entity organizations required
  • Experience defining data governance and quality standards in the context of a major ERP implementation (Oracle, SAP, or similar) required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks, data quality methodologies, metadata management, and Master Data Management principles.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively at the executive level and influence cross-functional leadership teams.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational design, and change management capabilities.
  • Ability to translate complex data governance concepts into business-aligned strategies and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong written, verbal, and executive communication skills.
