Job Summary

The Vascular Technologist performs non-invasive diagnostic procedures to evaluate blood flow and vascular conditions using specialized ultrasound and Doppler equipment. This role collaborates with physicians and healthcare professionals to provide imaging and test data critical to diagnosing and managing vascular diseases. The Vascular Technologist ensures patient safety and comfort while adhering to established protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Performs non-invasive vascular studies, including arterial and venous evaluations, using duplex ultrasound, pulse volume recordings, and other vascular testing methods.
  • Prepares patients for vascular procedures by reviewing medical history, explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Operates and adjusts ultrasound and Doppler equipment to obtain accurate images and assess vascular function and blood flow.
  • Recognizes normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology to provide preliminary findings to interpreting physicians.
  • Collaborates with physicians and healthcare teams to support clinical decision-making through high-quality imaging and timely communication of results.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in patient records, including procedure details, test results, and observations.
  • Adheres to infection control and aseptic technique protocols, ensuring equipment and work areas are properly sanitized.
  • Ensures proper function and maintenance of vascular imaging equipment and promptly reports malfunctions.
  • Participates in quality assurance and accreditation activities, supporting regulatory compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • 0-1 years of experience in vascular ultrasound or non-invasive vascular testing required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy, hemodynamics, and ultrasound imaging techniques.
  • Proficiency in operating vascular imaging equipment and interpreting real-time data.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a clinical environment.
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care standards.
Licenses and Certifications
  • RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist required or
  • RVS - Registered Vascular Sonographer required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
