Job Summary
The Security Officer Lead oversees and leads security operations within the hospital or clinical facility, ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role supervises and directs security officers, handles emergency situations, and enforces facility policies. The Security Officer Lead works closely with hospital administration, law enforcement, and other departments to maintain a secure environment, prevent and respond to incidents, and manage security protocols.
Essential Functions
The Security Officer Lead oversees and leads security operations within the hospital or clinical facility, ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role supervises and directs security officers, handles emergency situations, and enforces facility policies. The Security Officer Lead works closely with hospital administration, law enforcement, and other departments to maintain a secure environment, prevent and respond to incidents, and manage security protocols.
Essential Functions
- Supervises, mentors, and leads a team of security officers, ensuring they adhere to security procedures and policies.
- Monitors security systems, such as surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control systems, to detect and respond to potential security breaches.
- Responds to security-related incidents, such as disturbances, unauthorized access, theft, or medical emergencies, in a calm and effective manner.
- Investigates and documents security incidents, accidents, and violations, creating detailed reports and logs.
- Collaborates with hospital staff and law enforcement when necessary to resolve incidents and maintain safety.
- Conducts routine security checks of hospital grounds, entrances, parking lots, and restricted areas to identify potential safety hazards.
- Accurately and thoroughly completes records, reports, and investigations in a timely manner. Reviews records and reports of others before submission.
- Exercises CPI and any other required training techniques in the event use of force is necessary and when responding and resolving security complaints.
- Follows up to ensure identified safety hazards are corrected.
- Assists Director or designee in maintaining time keeping records and schedule and finding replacement staff as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- 2-4 years of experience in security or law enforcement required
- Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting preferred
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required
- CPI - Nonviolent Crisis Prevention & Intervention Training completed within 30 days from hire required
- Guard Card/License in state of employment preferred
- Knowledge of security operations, emergency response protocols, and safety procedures in a healthcare or institutional environment.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to guide, support, and coordinate a team effectively.
- Proficient in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, and the use of CPI or other required safety interventions.
- Ability to operate and monitor security systems, including surveillance, access control, and communication equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document incidents clearly and collaborate across departments.
