Job Summary
The Corporate HIIM Informatics Director is responsible for assisting corporate business partners, IT, and facilities with the conversion, implementation, upgrade, build, access, reporting, analytics, training, maintenance, and support of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). This includes support for physician and patient portals, dictation/direct documentation, forms management, Health Information Exchange, and ensuring access to and integrity of the Legal Health Record (LHR). The Director also provides support to HIM departments, physicians, and end users for HIIM-specific system installations, in alignment with HIM department standards and model specifications.
Essential Functions
The Corporate HIIM Informatics Director is responsible for assisting corporate business partners, IT, and facilities with the conversion, implementation, upgrade, build, access, reporting, analytics, training, maintenance, and support of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). This includes support for physician and patient portals, dictation/direct documentation, forms management, Health Information Exchange, and ensuring access to and integrity of the Legal Health Record (LHR). The Director also provides support to HIM departments, physicians, and end users for HIIM-specific system installations, in alignment with HIM department standards and model specifications.
Essential Functions
- Oversees data migration, data minimization, legacy-to-long term eStorage including the quality assurance and audits; working with IT Storage in server remediation, deletion and decommissioning. Assists with data capture, reporting, document imaging, and direct documentation.
- Works closely with IT and Cybersecurity in audits, baseline reviews and builds and management, breach audits; management of RBEs and sitting on the Changed and Design Board.
- Supports the design, build, upgrades and maintenance of corporate EHRs. Manage ongoing optimization and automation, education and training, audits and reports. Provides foundational management and support of the MPI/EMPI through managing the process and vendor through conversion with extractions, analysis, and load, as well as determine build need assessment based on validations and reporting.
- Manages and maintain the processes to support all reportable data in support of operations. Ensures critical milestones are completed accurately and timely. Manages metrics and statistics in support of operations, the OCIO, and IT business partners.
- Manages and maintains the integrity of the legal health record through audits, conversion, upgrades and build in both new, existing and divestitures. Develops, implements and manages access, roles, forms, interfaces, downtime procedures, facility and operational support. Analysis and vetting of system integration.
- Acts as an operational liaison with IT business partners in escalations, interfaces, build, and equipment. Provides statistical based analysis, audits, and workflow analyses. Assesses, develops and maintains reports and work queues for operational automation and optimization. Communication with facility HIM Directors, C-Level, medical staff and vendors. Provides remote and at-the-elbow support for the HIM facility staff and physicians.
- Works closely within the IT Lifecycle and OCIO in the assessment and intake from conception to production any projection/optimization pertaining to the EHRs, LHR, direct documentation, and patient portals, and escalate to the senior director when objectives are not being met.
- Works closely with CHS Legal in managing vendors, contracts, vetting, and coordination of facility procurement of products and services. Manages all CHS acute care form usage via cloud-based solution, and ambulatory site validation and assessment of direct documentation and standard form usage.

- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information & Informatics Management required
- Master's Degree in Health Information & Informatics Management preferred
- 7-9 years acute or ambulatory care management experience in HIM required and
- 7-9 years experience with electronic record systems - Cerner, Hyland McKesson OneContent, Medhost, transcription and direct documentation systems, patient portal, or experience with document imaging systems required
- 7-9 years experience with small to large hospitals with multi-facility experience desired preferred
- 3-5 years consulting and project management experience preferred
- 3-5 years experience with SQL report writing application/software and dashboards preferred
- Must be knowledgeable of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing software.
- Must possess critical thinking skills.
- Must possess the ability to communicate to all levels of the facility including staff, physicians, and the C level administration.
- Must possess the ability to communicate to all levels at Corporate including Division staff.
- Must possess leadership skills.
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State required
- RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator preferred
- RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician preferred
