The Medical Assistant - Urgent Care Center supports urgent care providers by assisting with clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care. This role includes rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, assisting with procedures, and performing basic front-desk duties when needed. The Medical Assistant contributes to a positive patient experience by maintaining a safe, clean, and organized care environment in a fast-paced setting.
Essential Functions
- Prepares exam rooms and assists with rooming patients, including taking vital signs and obtaining medical histories.
- Supports providers during examinations and procedures by anticipating needs and ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available.
- Assists with specimen collection and processing under supervision and in accordance with facility protocols.
- Provides patients with clear instructions for follow-up care or diagnostic testing as directed by the provider.
- Maintains clean, stocked exam rooms and performs basic equipment sanitization between patient visits.
- Performs administrative support tasks such as check-in, registration, and patient documentation as needed.
- Monitors patient flow and collaborates with the care team to support efficient care delivery and reduced wait times.
- Responds to basic patient questions and relays more complex inquiries to the provider or appropriate staff member.
- Adheres to infection control protocols, privacy standards, and facility policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- 0-1 years of experience in a clinical or urgent care setting preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, walk-in urgent care environment.
- Basic understanding of clinical procedures, vital sign collection, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Proficiency in navigating EMR systems or willingness to learn.
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
