Job Summary

The Market Chief Executive Officer (MCEO) is responsible for the strategic leadership and overall management of multiple acute care hospitals within the designated market. This role oversees the planning, directing, and coordination of operations to ensure high-quality, affordable healthcare services. The MCEO may also serve as the Chief Executive Officer for one hospital within the market, integrating strategic initiatives with community relations and financial management.

Essential Functions
  • Leads strategic planning and decision-making for the market, establishing long-range plans that align with the health system's vision, values, and goals.
  • Manages the acquisition, utilization, and organization of human, financial, and physical resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of healthcare services.
  • Organizes health system operations by delegating duties, establishing departmental accountability, and maintaining oversight of performance across facilities.
  • Designs and implements business plans to achieve hospital occupancy, operational objectives, and financial goals.
  • Recommends policy positions to the Governing Board regarding legislative, administrative, and public policies that impact healthcare delivery.
  • Oversees personnel policies, ensuring they support patient care and the maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records.
  • Develops and manages the annual budget, ensuring strong financial controls, resource allocation, and adherence to financial targets.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements by reviewing inspection reports and implementing necessary actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field required
  • More than 10 years of experience in healthcare administration, with at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple hospitals or facilities required
  • 2-4 years of experience at Chief Executive Officer level preferred
  • 3-6 years of senior-level experience in healthcare administration/management with experience in facility operations management, human resources management and/or finance preferred
  • Multi-site healthcare management in experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong strategic planning, financial management, and operational leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, policies, and best practices in hospital management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, governing boards, and the community.
  • Proven track record in driving performance improvements, achieving financial goals, and enhancing patient satisfaction.
  • High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to promoting a culture of accountability, transparency, and excellence.
