Job Summary

The Manager, Patient Accounts is responsible for overseeing clinic cash and clearing account activities to ensure accurate reconciliation, financial integrity, and timely resolution of variances. This role supports clinics and shared services by providing guidance, reporting, and oversight related to cash application and clearing processes, while ensuring consistency with corporate accounting standards and revenue cycle controls.

Essential Functions
  • Manages cash and clearing account reconciliation processes for the Central Business Office (CBO) and affiliated clinics, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances.
  • Monitors clinic clearing account activity through reporting and analysis, identifying discrepancies and working collaboratively with sites to resolve issues.
  • Oversees and reviews audit activities performed by staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to documented procedures.
  • Develops, implements, and refines standardized processes and tools to simplify and improve cash and clearing account reconciliation activities.
  • Serves as a subject matter resource for clinics, providing training, guidance, and ongoing support related to cash and clearing account reconciliation.
  • Partners with accounting, revenue cycle, and operational teams to investigate complex cash issues and support accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepares and reviews reports related to cash activity, clearing accounts, and reconciliation status for leadership and operational partners.
  • Supports special projects, process improvement initiatives, and ad hoc reporting related to patient accounts and cash operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required or
  • A combination of education and three (3) or more years of related experience in a similar function may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration preferred
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting and complex cash and clearing account reconciliation required
  • Experience in physician practice management, hospital, health plan, or comparable healthcare cash and clearing reconciliation environments preferred
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of cash management, clearing accounts, and reconciliation principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet-based analysis.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify discrepancies, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support and train operational partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
