Job Summary
The Manager, Information Systems oversees, coordinates, and supports all activities related to the hospital's information systems and technology infrastructure. This role manages a team of IT professionals responsible for applications, networking, system support, and cybersecurity. The Manager ensures that technology operations align with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and patient care objectives. In collaboration with leadership and clinical departments, the Manager develops and implements technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safeguard data integrity, and support high-quality patient outcomes.
Essential Functions
The Manager, Information Systems oversees, coordinates, and supports all activities related to the hospital's information systems and technology infrastructure. This role manages a team of IT professionals responsible for applications, networking, system support, and cybersecurity. The Manager ensures that technology operations align with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and patient care objectives. In collaboration with leadership and clinical departments, the Manager develops and implements technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safeguard data integrity, and support high-quality patient outcomes.
Essential Functions
- Oversees daily IT operations, including hardware, software, and network systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and compliance with hospital and corporate policies.
- Leads the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of information systems and applications that support clinical, financial, and administrative functions.
- Coordinates system upgrades, migrations, and installations, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
- Ensures proper data security practices, including network access control, cybersecurity protocols, and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Collaborates with hospital leadership, department managers, and vendors to identify technology needs and deliver cost-effective solutions that align with organizational goals.
- Monitors system performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of operations.
- Provides user support and training to promote effective system utilization and improve end-user experience.
- Develops and maintains IT documentation, including system configurations, processes, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Oversees IT vendor relationships, contract management, and equipment procurement in coordination with corporate IT and purchasing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Supervision and Staff Management
- Provides leadership, mentorship and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
- Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Director on staffing issues.
- Conducts performance evaluations, sets goals and provides feedback to staff on their performance and development.
- Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
- Develops and manages departmental budget ensuring cost effective operations while maintaining high quality service.
- Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
- Evaluates and implements new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies ensuring that services meet or exceed industry standards.
- Participates in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
- Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
- Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Staff Responsibilities
- May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required or
- Four (4) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required
- Master's Degree preferred
- 2-4 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelor's degree required
- 2-4 years of previous leadership experience preferred

- Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems, and data analysis tools.
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certification preferred
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) preferred
