Job Summary
The Unit-Based Educator, under the supervision of the Director, Manager, or designee, is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education and professional development initiatives within a designated unit or department. This position aims to enhance clinical competencies, promote evidence-based practices, and improve patient outcomes by collaborating with department leaders and staff to align education with organizational and departmental goals. The Unit-Based Educator also facilitates orientation programs, maintains compliance with regulatory training, and serves as a clinical resource for staff.

Job Summary
The Unit-Based Educator, under the supervision of the Director, Manager, or designee, is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education and professional development initiatives within a designated unit or department. Essential Functions
- Collaborates with staff, department leaders, and administration to assess training needs and design learner-focused educational experiences that address these requirements.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates unit-based orientation programs for new staff, ensuring their seamless integration into the team and adherence to clinical best practices.
- Maintains and monitors training and certification records for unit staff, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Serves as a resource for staff seeking guidance on clinical practices, evidence-based care, and skill development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Provides direct training through classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and simulation-based learning to enhance clinical competencies within the unit.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of educational interventions through feedback, competency assessments, and measurable outcomes, revising programs as necessary to achieve desired results.
- Stays informed about advancements in healthcare and unit-specific clinical practices, integrating new knowledge into training programs to ensure staff remain up to date.
- Assists with the planning and execution of annual training sessions, ensuring all clinical staff meet ongoing competency and compliance requirements.
- Participates in department, facility, and corporate meetings related to education, quality improvement, and clinical excellence, representing the unit's educational needs and priorities.
- Supports organizational initiatives and unit-specific goals by aligning education programs with strategic objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
- Master's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education preferred
- 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in specialty area/department required
- 2-4 years of experience in nursing education, staff development, or a related role required
- Strong ability to develop and deliver effective educational programs.
- Expertise in evidence-based clinical practices and training methodologies.
- Proficiency in assessing learner needs and tailoring educational programs accordingly.
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and mentorship skills.
- Strong organizational and critical-thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in using simulation-based training tools and technology.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to clinical education.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- Additional resuscitation or other certifications as needed by department required
