Job Summary
The Director of Information Systems is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for high-level strategic planning and management of the organization's information systems. This role sets the strategic direction for IT infrastructure and systems, ensuring they align with business goals. The Director oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and security. Working closely with executives, the Director ensures IT initiatives support the company's overall strategy, manages large to medium-scale IT projects, and leads teams across various IT disciplines, including network operations, software development, security systems, platforms support, and data management. Additionally, the Director ensures regulatory compliance, manages vendor relationships, and drives digital innovation to maintain optimal stability and data integrity.
Essential Functions

Essential Functions
- Communicates and supports the hospital's mission, vision, and values as well as departmental goals to all staff. Demonstrates creativity, intelligence and discretion in planning, organizing and coordinating department functions.
- Defines performance objectives and metrics for the department. Demonstrates proficiency at hospital wide and/or department specific computer software and technology.
- Demonstrates fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources.
- Collaborates with other departments to problem solve ongoing issues that impact department/organization goals and/or patient care delivery.
- Incorporates quality improvement data and/or patient satisfaction data into departmental goals.
- Responsible for system management and coordination for the hospital Information system on an ongoing basis. Coordinates system activities with outside vendors as needed. Presents and/or analyzes recommendations regarding projects and systems use and management as needed.
- Prepares Information Systems annual budget. Plans Information Systems Capital budget by date established by Financial Services, and provides recommendations for other departments on any computer-related expenditure (hardware or software).
- Performs systems analysis and problem solving as needed. Develops and implements solutions within time frame established during analysis.
- Evaluates and assesses hospital information system needs. Interacts and communicates with a variety of personal and groups including information systems staff, hospital administration, department managers and supervisors, physicians, vendors, hospital staff etc. as needed.
- Maintains supports for report writing functions. Provides instructions and aids Support Coordinators in completion of reports. Receives, reviews and processes various reports and records including but not limited to, system output, status reports, clinical information, financial information, vendor contracts, sales records.
- Provides periodic training classes for end users in applications as needed. Responsible for lesson development.
- Ensures data security, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management across the organization. Verifies information systems results by auditing systems applications.

- Supervision and Staff Management
- Provides leadership, mentorship and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
- Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with leadership on any potential staffing issues.
- Conducts performance evaluations, sets goals and provides feedback to staff on their performance and development.
- Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
- Collaborates with hospital leadership to set the strategic direction for the department, including budgeting, resource allocation and long-term planning.
- Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
- Evaluates and implements new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies ensuring that services meet or exceed industry standards.
- Participates in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
- Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
- Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Staff Responsibilities
- May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required or
- Seven (7) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required
- Master's Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelor's degree required
- 3-5 years of previous leadership experience preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and manage cross-functional relationships.
