Corporate Perinatal Safety and Quality Manager

Job Summary

The Remote Perinatal Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, directing and/or evaluating patient safety improvement to ensure the highest level of performance is achieved. The Perinatal Safety Nurse Specialist reports to the Corporate Senior Director for Women and Children Service Lines and works in partnership with the CHS Corporate Team and Facility Leadership. Knowledge of perinatal national standards and guidelines and the principles and practice of safety science is essential. Communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with the leadership team and staff members to promote teamwork among all care providers are critical to role success and to the success of the perinatal safety program initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Program Development & Implementation: Plan, implement, and evaluate system-wide obstetric patient safety and quality initiatives, such as national perinatal patient safety bundles and Joint Commission Elements of Performance for Maternal Safety.
  • Quality Improvement & Data Analysis: Monitor clinical outcomes, collect and analyze data from various sources (e.g., PeriGen Vigilance, Clinical Dashboards, incident reporting systems) to identify trends, track safety metrics, and develop data-driven action plans to mitigate potential patient harm.
  • Event Review & Investigation: Lead or participate in the review and investigation of adverse events and near-miss occurrences, including root cause analyses, and incorporate findings into educational efforts and process changes.
  • Policy & Standards Adherence: Ensure all care providers in Maternal Child Health adhere to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, as well as national clinical standards and best practices.
  • Education & Training: Develop, coordinate, and evaluate specialty education and training programs for nursing staff and other care providers, including simulation drills and team training, to enhance effective teamwork and communication.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, presentation and computer skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration, or other health/business field or currently actively enrolled in Master's degree program in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration, or other health/business related field preferred
  • At least five (5) of clinical nursing experience in obstetrics with progressive responsibility and accountability required.
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory and clinical guidelines governing obstetrics preferred
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures, assessment forms and other tools related to performance and quality metrics.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; flexibility to accept and manage change.
  • Proven ability to interact with all levels of staff and management at hospital, division and corporate level.
  • Current RN licensure required.
  • National certification in inpatient obstetrics and/or EFM preferred
