Job Summary
The Chest Pain Coordinator oversees the standards and practices within the Chest Pain Center to create a safe and efficient environment for Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients. This role leads the coordination among team members involved in the Chest Pain Center, focusing on improving cardiac care quality through planning, development, and implementation of program goals. The Chest Pain Coordinator monitors the continuous quality improvement (CQI) process, ensuring regulatory compliance, and serves as a key resource for staff.
Essential Functions
The Chest Pain Coordinator oversees the standards and practices within the Chest Pain Center to create a safe and efficient environment for Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients. This role leads the coordination among team members involved in the Chest Pain Center, focusing on improving cardiac care quality through planning, development, and implementation of program goals. The Chest Pain Coordinator monitors the continuous quality improvement (CQI) process, ensuring regulatory compliance, and serves as a key resource for staff.
Essential Functions
- Serves as a clinical resource for staff treating patients with chest pain and anginal symptoms.
- Actively responds to code STEMI calls during work hours to provide immediate support.
- Develops, implements, reviews, and revises chest pain standards, policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure best practices.
- Collects, organizes, and analyzes data for quality improvement in cardiac care, formulating data-driven results and action plans.
- Maintains records of all STEMI cases and cardiac-related patient data for accurate reporting.
- Coordinates data analysis and reporting to Emergency Department and Pre-hospital services, ensuring timely communication.
- Provides responsive support to patient and family needs, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- 0-2 years of experience in cardiac or emergency care, with experience in program coordination required
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular care, chest pain management, and cardiac emergency protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and emergency medical services.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation standards.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to oversee program development and accreditation processes.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required or
- CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist required or
- RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support within 90 days of employment required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
