Essential Functions
- Coordinates patient referrals, authorizations, and appointments for specialty care, diagnostics, and follow-up services in accordance with provider orders.
- Communicates with patients and families to explain next steps, provide instructions, and ensure understanding of referral and appointment requirements.
- Obtains prior authorizations and referral approvals as needed, and accurately documents information in the electronic health record.
- Schedules appointments and follows up with external providers to confirm referral completion and collect consult notes.
- Responds to incoming calls and referral requests, triaging appropriately and ensuring timely processing.
- Maintains accurate and organized patient records, ensuring documentation is complete and submitted according to policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Associate Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred
- 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare administrative or referral coordination role required
- Knowledge of referral processes, insurance requirements, and prior authorization procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems and scheduling software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
